Adverio Waste Systems and Meurs join forces: a major step forward for biogas and sustainable technology

Adverio Waste Systems’ activities will continue from Meurs Technisch Ingenieursbureau. Together, we are bringing knowledge, skills and delivery capabilities onto one strong technical foundation.

A major step, built on a strong foundation

Adverio Waste Systems (AWS) and Meurs Technisch Ingenieursbureau are bringing together their knowledge, experience and activities. AWS’s activities are being integrated into Meurs and will be carried out from Meurs. This is a major step: the development of biogas, anaerobic digestion and composting solutions is being connected with the technical expertise and delivery capabilities of the Meurs team.

For Klaas Hofstra, this is a deliberate choice to establish a strong technical foundation. He is taking over part of Meurs and is responsible for its day-to-day management. Together with the existing team, he is building the company’s future under the established name Meurs Technisch Ingenieursbureau.

Working from Meurs: bringing expertise together

The activities will be organised and carried out from Meurs in Lochem. This is where the combination of technical knowledge, practical skills and experience provides the right foundation for the next step. Meurs has an established base in gas-related installations, specialising in LPG, propane, CNG, LNG and hydrogen. AWS adds experience in biogas, anaerobic digestion, waste processing and composting.

Bringing these disciplines together creates a closer connection between process choices and technical delivery. A successful installation requires more than a sound concept. Engineering, construction, maintenance and service also need to work together. Meurs provides a broader and stronger foundation for that integrated approach.

Biogas extends an established specialism

The integration makes biogas a clear extension of the Meurs service offering. Klaas Hofstra and AWS’s experience in developing and delivering projects in the Netherlands and internationally is being combined with the craftsmanship of the existing team. The expanded scope includes:

  • Biogas upgrading and processing.
  • Anaerobic digestion plants and associated technical systems.
  • Composting installations.
  • Gas treatment and technical installations.
  • Engineering, construction, maintenance and service for gas-related installations.

The existing specialisms remain an important part of Meurs. The move into biogas builds on the expertise already in place and creates opportunities to apply that knowledge across a broader field.

What does this mean for clients?

Clients gain access to an engineering company with a broader service offering and greater scope to address different parts of a project together. Experience in process technology and project development is brought closer to the people responsible for detailed engineering, delivery and maintenance.

This matters for new installations as well as the modification, expansion and maintenance of existing systems. The combined expertise makes it possible to consider practical delivery and future maintenance needs at an early stage, creating a stronger connection between the initial question, the detailed design and day-to-day use.

Building on the work of Ronald and his team

This development follows the passing of Ronald Meurs, who was the driving force behind the company for the past twenty years. Together with his team, he built a business with a strong technical reputation and long-standing relationships with customers and suppliers. That work is the foundation for the next chapter.

Continuity comes first. Meurs’ knowledge, experience, service and personal way of working will be preserved. We will continue Ronald’s work with respect and develop the next phase together with the existing team.

A familiar name, with broader capabilities

We will continue under the name Meurs Technisch Ingenieursbureau. Integrating AWS’s activities broadens the expertise and strengthens the foundation for delivery. For us, this is a major step forward: more disciplines working together, a wider range of services and a shared starting point for future projects.

The ambition is clear: build on existing craftsmanship, add new knowledge and help clients with practical, carefully engineered technical solutions. Working from Meurs, with the people and expertise needed to move forward together.
